Directions to Saratoga Race Course

Take it from a local, Saratoga Race Course is easy to get to, and with the right plan, easy to park at.

From New York City, New Jersey, and points South

  • Take I-87 the New York State Thruway North to Exit 24 (Albany)
  • Exit the Thruway through the toll gates, and pick up I-87 the Adirondack Northway heading North to Exit 14
  • Take Exit 14, staying to the right and swinging around the curve and onto New York State Route 9P
  • For Free Parking
    • At the first light take a right.
    • 1/2 mile ahead, turn left at the sign into the free back stretch parking.
    • You'll park among the barns where the horses and grooms live, giving you a first hand window into another era. There's a shuttle bus that runs throughout the day should you end up in the far reaches of the "lot".
  • For Trackside Parking
    • Stay straight through the first light.
    • At the second light, take a left for $10 Track Side parking
    • Or - take a right for $5 Preferred Parking
    • Or - choose any of the personal lots that spring up yearly in front yards and vacant lots. Prices Vary

From Boston, Hartford, Providence, New England and points East

  • Take I-90 the Massachusetts Turnpike West to New York. This turns into I-90 New York State Thruway.
  • Take I-90 The New York State Thruway West to Exit B1. This is where the I-90 leaves the thruway and becomes a free road.
  • Through the toll gate, continue Weston I-90 to Exit 1
  • At Exit 1 stay right to pick up I-87 the Adirondack Northway heading North to Exit 14
  • Take Exit 14, staying to the right and swinging around the curve and onto New York State Route 9P
  • Follow parking directions as above

From Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo and points West

  • Take I-90 The New York State Thruway East to Exit 27 in Amsterdam
  • Exit the toll plaza onto Route 30 across the Mohawk into Amsterdam.
  • Follow the arterial through town and up the hill, staying to the right. Take New York Route 67 East out of town.
  • Follow New York State Route 32 for approximately 15 miles into Ballston Spa.
  • In Ballston Spa, take a Left onto Route 50heading North
  • Take Route 50 into Downtown Saratoga Springs. At US Route 9 cross onto Circular Street
  • At the stop sign, take a left staying on Circular. At the light, take a right onto Union Avenue.
  • For Free Parking At the second light take a left. turn right at the sign into the free back stretch parking. You'll park among the barns where the horses and grooms live, giving you a first hand window into another era. (Don't worry about what you step in, the back stretch is clean.)
  • For Trackside Parking
    • On Union Avenue, at the 2nd light, take a right for $10 Track Side parking
    • Or - take a leftfor $5 Preferred Parking
    • Or - choose any of the personal lots that spring up yearly in front yards and vacant lots. Prices Vary
